What they say...
Bobby Seagull said:
“I’m super excited to be hosting Bobby’s Big Number Fun Quiz at National Numeracy Day Live. I want to show children across the UK just how fun maths can be, with help from the amazing West Ham United Foundation!”
Katya Jones said:
"I’m really looking forward to bringing some sparkle to National Numeracy Day Live! I’ll be joined by my friend Numberblock One and we will be kickstarting the day with a dynamic dance warm-up! Together, we can discover the link between dancing and maths, how much fun learning new skills can be and leave feeling more confident."
Bryan Glover, West Ham United Foundation Director of Programmes, said:
“We’re proud to be partnering with National Numeracy Day again this year to deliver this exciting event where we can bring numbers to life. Maths can often be something that people shy away from but we all use numbers in our daily lives. So, by working in collaboration and doing activities like this we hope to be able to spread the message that numbers can be fun and we want to empower people to be more confident in using numbers and improving their skills.”
Sam Sims, CEO of National Numeracy, said:
“We want the nation to feel confident about using numbers and maths in everyday life. What better way to show children how interesting and fun numbers can be than with a live quiz, dancing and football?”
Why is National Numeracy Day so important?
• Millions of children leave school lacking number confidence. 30% of school-leavers (18-24s) feel anxious about using maths and numbers. They are the most maths-anxious adult group in the UK. Let's help children feel more confident with numbers so they leave school feeling equipped to use maths in the real world.
• In the UK, 49% of the UK’s working-age population have the expected numeracy levels of a primary school child, significantly below the average for developed countries. This can be changed. Join us!
