Numberblocks and Peter Sawkins team up for National Numeracy Day

In honour of the fifth National Numeracy Day, Numberblocks have teamed up with Peter Sawkins to help little learners across the UK feel good about numbers, and bring number fun to the kitchen.

This May, Peter Sawkins, National Numeracy Ambassador and winner of The Great British Bake Off 2020, will be joined by the Numberblocks in a special Numberblock Five baking video. Children will enjoy the Numberblocks Flapjack Five bake-along video and recipe sheet. Following along with Peter, step-by-step, children will use maths and numbers to create their very own tasty, vegan, Five out of flapjacks.

Peter has also created a birthday cake recipe for older children.

The fun and supportive videos and recipe sheets will help children of all ages feel good about numbers while have fun making tasty treats that they will be proud to share with their friends and families.

Numberblocks has also created a special set of downloadable National Numeracy Day activities for children to use at nursery, school or home.

How to take part

Children can bake-along with Peter at home using the recipe sheets and videos as well as lots of other free activities on the Numeracy Day children’s hub.

Early years, primary and secondary level providers sign up to be a National Numeracy Day Champion Organisation here to get access these activities as well as many more resources, activities and planning information.

In the UK, 49% of the UK’s working-age population having the expected numeracy levels of a primary school child, significantly below the average for developed countries.
