It will also support adults with maths anxiety and those with lower maths skills, enabling measurable improvements in both confidence with numbers and proficiency.
This interactive Challenge website has already helped 300,000 people begin their journey to improved numeracy confidence and skills. In 10 minutes, it diagnoses a user’s feelings about numeracy, as well as their skill level, and then offers practical steps to attaining the Essentials of Numeracy.
The team will partner with Health Education England, the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW) and others to engage health and social care employees as well as those in retail and distribution. These partnerships will ensure that project solutions are effective in settings where staff are keen to improve their skills and confidence with maths, are short on time, and may not have access to PCs and Wi-Fi.
The project hopes to improve the skills and/or confidence of 20,000 adults, enabling them to ‘get on with numbers’ and thereby get on at work.
We are delighted to be working with the Ufi Trust on this ‘VocTech Impact’ project, which aligns so well with the very heart of our work at National Numeracy. The programme will take the National Numeracy Challenge to the next level, enabling thousands of adults to improve their basic maths, whether they are in the workplace already, or are preparing for employment. This truly is an ‘impact’ project, with a hugely ambitious target of demonstrating improvement in the skills or confidence of 20,000 adults.
